Interactive - Jer 29:11 ·         Specifically a reference to the exile into Babylon Verse 29:20.

·         Name some of the plans that God has brought about in the life of Israel.

Study - The Plans God has for Israel

·         Hosea 1:2-3:1-5

·         How does the story of Hosea and Gomer relate to the life of Israel relative to God

Point One - The wife of Hosea is a type of Israel

Vrs 3:1

·         God calls Israel and us his Wife in the old testament and bride in NT

·         Jer 3:20 ¶ "Surely, as a woman treacherously departs from her lover, So you have dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel," declares the LORD.

·         In this the Prophet represents the person of God, who loved his Church before he called her, and did not withdraw his love when she gave herself to idols. That is, gave themselves wholly to pleasure, and could not stop, as those that are given to drunkenness. -Geneva Bible Notes

Point Two - He will bring us back to the garden

·         Verses 2:18-23

·         The "birds of the sky, And the creeping things" is a reference back to the way things were in the garden!  GN 1:26

·         Note "That day" in verse 18 refers to the millennium, Peter refers to the time before this "That day" as the "last times" which started after the cross/Pentecost.

·         1Pe 1:20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you - (emphasis mine)

·         Review Time Line from the garden to eternity.

Point Three - Verse 2:23 We are part of the plan!

·         Ro 9:23-26

·         1Peter 2:9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR [God's] OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

·         10 for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

·         When he returns he will come for his bride.  Will you be at the wedding?

Application

·         You get the feeling that God yearns to have Israel, the lost, and us come to him and that He will go to any length to bring Israel, the lost and us to himself

·         He will suffer indignation of humanity for eternity, sweat blood over us, and suffer betrayal, death and tears, all for the love of a people, a people he had to pay the ultimate price for.
